Having supplied songs to Bonnie Raitt and George Strait, Trisha Yearwood and Etta James, Bryan Adams and Patty Loveless, Gretchen Peters has always had an ability to write the songs that captured truths about real lives being lived. Peters received her first Grammy Nomination for Song of the Year in 1995 for "Independence Day", which was recorded by Martina McBride. In 1996 she was again nominated for Song of the Year for the Patty Loveless hit "You Don't Even Know Who I Am." Proving herself in the rock arena, Peters co-wrote "Rock Steady" with Bryan Adams, a song that appears on Bonnie Raitt's Road Tested.
Her first album, The Secret of Life, caught people's ears - from Playboy to People, The Washington Post to USA Today - and now she makes an album that bears her name, which is as true to her own sonic vision as it is to the songs that she writes.
